• For Permanent Magnet Chucks: Excessive heat is dangerous because it can cause permanent demagnetization if the temperature approaches the material's Curie Point. While modern magnets are very stable, sustained high heat from the machining process can cause a permanent loss of holding force. Heat can also cause the chuck body to expand, reducing grinding accuracy.

• For Electromagnetic Chucks: Heat is generated internally by the electrical coil.
